Dr. Vilens Pocket Dimension of Peril
Concept
This experience includes five different themed escape rooms set in all different time periods, a bar filled with fun "potions" and new "experiments", Other areas include a restaurant with an elaborate stage show, a gift shop with memorabilia from some of the doctor’s visits through time, and a free interactive room filled with interactive science exhibits. Everything within this space falls under one collective story. Each of the escape rooms has its own built in stories and ways to play individually. However, if a group wanted to experience all of the rooms, they all can combine stories and create one fluid storyline.
Story
An inventor named Dr. Vilen has cracked the code on time travel. Using his invention, the doctor has been traveling through time and manipulating the space-time continuum. He has invited you to travel the lengths of time with him, but unfortunately, he is nowhere to be found. One of his assistants helps you use the time machine but something goes horribly wrong. You end up in a pocket dimension outside of space and time. Other “survivors” of the doctor’s’ experiments are also found in this state outside of time with you when you exit the time machine. They explain that the only way to get back home is to enter one of the five "wormholes" in front of you. If you and your team can undo what the doctor has changed in any of these timelines, the wormholes will stabilize and create a doorway back to the present. He is taking artifacts from the timelines for his collection and it is your job to fix the space-time continuum and bring order back to the universe.
Exterior
The design of the Exterior for this experience is a castle with inspiration from Gothic churches and other buildings. Taking design elements from multiple types of castles and churches gave a great mix and a different type of design.
Lobby
The first thing guest will see when they walk in is a check-in desk for them. This is for both the escape room experiences, and also the restaurant and bar. The idea for the interior overall was to have a gothic-style castle with some advanced technology scattered all around the experience. These would include some of the doctor’s own inventions and convenient improvements to the castle for his own sake.
Dining
The Restaurant is the largest area within this experience. It holds some of the most unique things within its wall, literally. Along the walls of the restaurant are storage containers that are collections for our doctors time traveling adventures. Some of these are real elements others are just screens that will move every so often.
Laboratory
The Lab is the first chapter of the guest interactive experience. This room will act as a pre-show for the escape rooms. This is where guests are briefed on the story and how the “mechanics” of the time machine works.
Time Machine
The time machine is an elevator that takes guests from the first floor to the second floor where all of the escape rooms are. This elevator will have screens on all of its walls that will show guests them traveling through time.
Pocket Dimension
Once the time machine has finished creating our plot the guests will climb out and discover they are inside of a pocket dimension. The time machine will have the appearance of ripping apart some of the labs with it once it traveled. Guests will be greeted by other “survivors” of the doctors’ experiments who will tell guests the next steps to getting to their experiences.
80’s Themed Escape Room
Guests will start in a movie theater projector room where they will encounter multiple puzzles. After finishing all of the puzzles in this room they will unlock the storage closet next to them. They will be continuing to solve puzzles until they unlock the final room, the concession counter. Each room has puzzles unique to their room and gets more challenging every step of the way.
